Mentoring - A Fine Art

Mentoring doesn’t have to be a complicated process or business.  Once it is designed to fit a particular need, it can be a very effective and simple method to implement, something that will be easy to use once it's established.  Although it consists of certain processes and procedures, mentoring is actually like fine art in that it requires creativity in design and implementation.  It's also a practice that requires flexibility and adaptability and will require participants to look beyond the mere series of techniques in order to put it into practice more effectively.

Why use mentoring programs

In many organizations, a gap often exists between the actual needs of the individuals and the established practices.  Depending on how well the organization works to fill this gap, the difference may be great or small.  The role of mentoring is to close this gap and allow staff, employees, personnel or students to access resources that will allow them to improve their learning and skills.

Mentoring is also used to increase the quality of the intellectual capital of an organization, allowing employees to be trained in order to meet set standards of quality in terms of qualifications and technical skills.  It is also an excellent tool for improving the standards of service in an organization.  As a recruitment and retaining tool, mentoring is also effective, allowing businesses to attract quality employees by providing new ones with a means to adapt well to their new environment.

The fine art of mentoring

When people view mentoring, they see it as a means to transfer knowledge.  However, it is so much more than that.  Choosing, designing and implementing a mentoring program often requires inventive solutions in order for it to remain attractive, relevant, updated and useful.  It has proven to be a very effective method in improving business processes and has become one of the highly valued issues within many organizations.


The main concern of mentoring is matching, something that requires patience and imagination on the part of the administrator.  Having a good pairing between the mentor and the mentee is crucial to the success of the program.  If the match is in place, both parties will benefit from a strong, mutually rewarding relationship.  If the matching fails, either or both parties will suffer from negative learning or feel frustrated about a system that does nothing.

This is why administrators who wish to implement an effective mentoring system should find creative ways to determine the matching qualifications between the mentor and his protégé.  Certain factors, for example, such as temperament, personal characteristics, values, philosophies or similar goals can impact the relationship.  There is no set standard for matching, which makes it important that those who wish to implement the program should be able to apply a certain adaptability and imagination when determining a successful match.

Keeping the mentoring system fresh

A mentoring program also thrives on being up-to-date, which keeps it interesting.  Implementing a mentoring program that is outdated can have disastrous results, encouraging participants to perceive it as ineffective and useless.  Like art, mentoring must remain dynamic and appealing, keeping participants' interests up, which gives them more reason to use the program.

Establishing a successful mentoring program

Mentoring is like fine art in that it needs to remain relevant and an effective source of motivation.  As such, it has to undergo improvements along the way and must be open to changes.  The best way to determine the success of the mentoring program is to compare the initial goals of the system to the results.  This may be done through feedback and evaluations, allowing participants to comment on the strengths and weaknesses of the program.  Without a set feedback system in place, it will be difficult indeed to quantify the efficacy of mentoring within an organization and thus rate its success.

If you want more money in your life, then you've got to show money love. This may sound strange to you, but the law of attraction simply stated says "like attracts like".

Attracting money into your life is much like a love relationship. If you want to attract that sexy woman or that handsome guy into your life, then you call them on the phone. You meet together on a dinner date.

Perhaps you write love letters or sweet poems. You find out what the person likes and make a little surprise gift. You keep a picture of that person in your wallet. You are in love. This is basically what the law of attraction is about. It's not just saying or writing affirmations. It's not just using pictures to visualize things. It's putting your whole heart, soul and mind into it.

With money, it has to be the same way. First step to attracting money is;

1. Realize money is like electricity. In of itself, it is not good or evil. Much like electricity, you can use it to do a lot of good or cause a lot of unhappiness. Many people blame money for their mistakes and are afraid to face responsibility for their own life.

2. Everything that you want to manifest requires a specific spirituality accordingly. Spirituality is an intense feeling for something. It is a healthy and balanced love for something. If you are afraid to love money, how can you ever expect it to want to come to you? Remember, this is a healthy and balanced love.

3. Keep pictures or symbols of money to help you focus and remind you of your intention. You can use pictures of money, real money, or symbols such as rocks or marbles. Use whatever works best for you.

4. Take action. Don't just take an action for action's sake, but meditate and think it through. Trust your subconsciousness to lead you to do the right action, but nonetheless don't expect for things to just fall out of the sky into your lap.

5. Imagine. Use your imagination of what you would feel like if you were wealthy. Exactly how much money would you like to have. When? Make it crystal clear into your mind and then work with the feeling of already having it now. I recommend this should be done on a daily basis for at least half an hour, but again, do what works best for you. Remember that you want to do this regularly and you want this to be a fun thing, not a chore.

Does Anger Affect the Body

Anger affects our body in many ways. When we are angry we often feel stressful, betrayed, hurt, our body is tense and our stomach is in knots. When we feel this way, the world seems to tumble around us and our best friend has packed up and left us behind. The loneliness creeps in and often we feel that the whole world is an illusion and everyone is out of his or her minds.

There are times we want to run and hide and there are times we simply want to find the source that caused our hurt and beat them to a bloody pulp. We know we cannot do this since it is illegal and it does not help our problems. Rather when we blow up fusing our anger on someone else, we are only adding heartache to heartache.

Sometimes we all fail to see that there is a solution to many problems, but when we use up our last resources and nothing is left then where do we turn? How do we find our way out? If you are feeling like there is nothing left in the world for you and that, you have run out of answers to the many questions then you are not alone.

Above all, as the Holy Scripture says: "In your anger do not sin: Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.   -- Ephesians 4:26-27

One effective way to look at your situation is to know that someone else is suffering worse than you are. Forcing your mind to remain positive can help when times are tough to deal with. When you have been betrayed, robbed, manipulated, lied to, hurt and you feel that the person is getting away with something. Remember, the bad people always pay a higher price than what they induce on the victim. It may take some time, but you will see in the end that the bad person will pay a high price for his or her behavior. If you have been victimized, rather than venting your anger in a negative light, trying using your intellect and resources to enforce that the source is paying for the crime committed against you.

 If you are merely struggling from common problems then remember sufficient for each day and take it one day at a time. Try to find some humor in your situation. Laughter is always a source for relieving anger. When you feel your stomach knot, try to focus on something positive and go do your chores. Anytime we burn energy, we are burning emotions that are the root of anger. If you enjoy writing, sit down and write an article, book, story, or a simple journal. Write down your feelings, how you view the world, and the people in the world. Try to find a way to put some humor between the lines so that you can laugh when you look back at what you wrote. If you body is tense go for a walk and try to admire the beautiful scenery that God provided us. Remember when you are walking that something good comes from bad. This may not make sense, but if you look back at your many problems and how you dealt with them, you will see a series of good fortunes that came your way.

Above all do, I emphasize,  not go to sleep with this anger and wrath. We can all make more of a situation than what really exists and we all need to stay focused to survive the game of life. If you feel that you are centered out for punishment, then think of the men in war, the children in abused homes, or the wives that are tortured by their own spouse. Now look at your situation again. Are you homeless? Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have food in your kitchen? Do you have your bills paid? If this is true then why are you mad?

Anytime we are angered, our body is affected and this causes harm to our health. Is anything worth destroying your self-being, including your body and mind? Is anything worth loosing your respect? If you are angry, think before you act, because impulsive behavior leads to problems that are more complicated. When you feel like the world is tumbling down, pick up your torture stake and walk another mile.

Blueberries, along with blackberries, strawberries, and plums, have the highest total antioxidant capacity of any food. For 18 weeks, the rats were tested for mental functioning, muscle strength, coordination, and balance. The two groups which were fed with strawberry and blueberry extracts performed well on these tests, but the group fed with blueberries executed the most improvement. 

Not only that, findings also showed that blueberries improved the neuronal functioning of the rats. Dr. Joseph suspects the findings are a result of blueberries' rich store of flavonoids -- phytochemicals that have an effect on cell membranes. These findings suggest that nutritional intervention can offer hope to those suffering poor balance and coordination related to aging.

Prevention of diseases

A serving of blueberries provides a relatively low glycemic load while providing a diverse range of nutrients, which also means there are fewer calories (good news for calorie-watchers) in a serving full of phytochemicals and nutrients such as iron, vitamins C and E. Because of the phytochemicals present, the risk of acquiring some deadly diseases may also be prevented.

Anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, flavonols, and tannins found in this wonderful fruit may help prevent cancer by inhibiting some cancer mechanisms. These components protect the DNA from damage and disintegration caused by free radicals. 

At a symposium on berry health benefits, there have been reports that eating blueberries and other similar fruits like cranberries may improve the cognitive deterioration occurring in Alzheimer's disease and other conditions of aging. Blueberries may help lower the damages of stroke.
